I haven't purchased from newegg yet....it's in the que so to speak.

GB-8ihxp2
1 GB 1066 kingston rdram non-ecc (could be overkill) might change to 512 megs
Intel P4 2.53ghz
Antec truepower 550
Ati R9700 pro

The system that I am replacing had a few problems. I had purchased a new 1600xp that went bad in about three weeks. It wasn't overclocked. I was browsing the internet and I heard this loud alert from the computer. I went into the KR7A-R bios, and saw the temp go over 122F. It was at 97F before. Don't know what went wrong. Also, everytime I went into the bios, it would freeze/lockup and I had to softboot the machine to get it going again. I had flashed it to the latest bios, but it still had the same symptoms. It could be alot of things...bad cpu, psu , ddr ....the list could be endless..

I have a question. Can a bad hard drive cause an IDE channel to fail? I have 2 WD800. I ran norton and it reported that my partions were not recognizable. I had made three partitions and formated with z:32. I have done it several times in the past with no problems.
When I try to install winxp pro it would give me some sort of error...blue screen with a beginning code of 0x00000070 ....hardware problem...possible controller. Also, the psu(enermax 431) had a bad power connector to the hard drive....I had plugged in another one and it started to work, but the bios promblems remained the same. So...now I'm starting all over again.

I want to try Intel this time. I'm now using my old Abit BH6/300a with the enermax 431 psu. I think I would rather pay alittle more for a stable system. I've had alot of problems trying to get Amd cpu/mbs stable..

I would like your opinions please

Sounds good...512mb should suffice well(but that is ultimately up to you:) ) and the 550w PSU may be a little overkill also. Other than that, go for the new sys. When you were installing XP, Am I correct in assuming that you were trying to install it on a RAID partition? If so, did you install drivers for it from floppy at the beginning of XP install?
