Just found out my company is going to be opening an office there (we are based in NJ).

I'm sure I'll end up going out there at some point to set some things up.

Tell me whats good, bad, etc.

Pros: Beautiful area and great weather. Hot women in the OC.

Cons: Boring and pricey.

Head to other coastal towns like Hunington or Laguna.

It's one of the nicer beach in OC where you don't have to drive so much south like Laguna or Dana Point. It's beautiful and a very expensive place to live. Check out Balboa Island, its a great place to visit.

Lived there 20 years ago for four years. It was great when I was young. The town is sort of divided in two by the Pacific Coast Highway. On the east bluffs and stretching along the bay is basically the same as Costa Mesa or Irvine: wide streets, trees, apartment complexes, stores, offices. On the west side of the PCH is Balboa Island, which is a sort of funky beach community that represents "old" Newport Beach. Good shopping all around. Lots of restaurants. Catalina Island is just offshore. LA is 30 minutes north. Laguna is 20 minutes south.

I'm not sure if this is prevalent in the other beach cities out there, but the last 3 times I went to Newport it was almost overran by teen bike gangs. Last time I must have seen 3 groups of 15-20 kids just tearing around on their bikes. I use the word gang loosely because they're probably normal kids. Last time I was walking and almost got ran over twice, they're freaking everywhere out there lol.

By just offshore you mean about 26 miles of course.

Newport is a great town but very expensive. Good luck finding a townhome for under $700,000.

Cons: Expensive and it felt like I needed to drive extremely long distances everywhere.

Pros: Everything else.

Newport itself is very expensive, it's also super nice. Seriously, an awesome place to be. Good local night life, retarded hot women, and amazing weather. When you get here, you'll wonder how you ever lived in jersey. As far as cost of living, it's on par with to much cheaper than living in the tri-state. There's plenty of affordable places to live around newport, try huntington or costa mesa, or even irvine.

<-----Moved back from Manhattan over the summer after 2 years in that forsaken shithole.

I would be out the door so fast to the airport that the air behind me would ignite.

Ask if they can relocate you.

its pretty boring and residential and suburban.

if you are into electronic dance music, sutra is there, which is a pretty nice club. im sure its expensive to live there etc. "safe" etc.

all of the OC is like that. lots of more conservative people blowing up rent prices everywhere and being boring and closing everything early.

Its pretty much that way for everything west of the 405 and south of 55 I would say. North east OC is a dump :p

Nah, Yorba Linda, Brea, Anaheim Hills, Parts of Fullerton and Tustin and Orange, and parts of placentia are all quite nice, and even affordable.

Plenty of parts are also super ghetto.
