so someone stole my Tide from the laundry room... but its not Tide, it's bleach

I went to do a wash yesterday morning. I live in an apartment, so I brought my clothes downstairs, put them in the washer, started them, and then left the detergent/bleach/dryer sheets in the corner with my laundry bag. I left them there so I could go to the gym without going back to my room. It was 7-8 AM (laundry and gym both empty.. it's awesome and I'm awake anyway), so I didn't think it would get stolen.

Well I got back at like 9 something and my laundry bag was still there but nothing else was. I asked a maintenance guy walking by if he took it and he said he wouldn't have. Went to the front desk right next door and they said they wouldn't have taken it either.

Funny thing is, though... I had like Gain or something detergent and then I have a Tide bottle that my mom mixed in bleach. I use it for my whites, but it looks just like a regular Tide bottle.

Some kid now is going to use my "Tide" and it's going to bleach all of his clothes. Wish I could be there. Not even mad he stole it really..

EDIT: college apartment building, no grannies

LOL, sucks for him/her. Though, one should be able to put it together when they smell it, assuming they have even half a brain. Hopefully he/she is that stupid and it ruins all of his shit. Thieves suck.

This is an inspiring post. I'm now going to put all my detergent into bleach bottles, and my bleach into detergent bottles.

Well, you saved my day.

Now that I know it's bleach, I can use it properly. I would have taken bleach too but you didn't leave any bottle marked bleach.

Still a win in my book.

Reminds me of when my wife and I lived in an apartment complex where someone would come by and take her butts out of her cigarette butt can (she didn't smoke inside since I'm a non-smoker and had a baby at the time). She would leave halves next to the can sometimes and they would take those too.
For about 6 months we never saw who was doing it.
I ended up taking a few halves and dipping them in various things (nothing deadly, just unpleasant), letting them dry, then putting them out next to the butt can.
We no longer had the problem of missing halves and butts after that.

This makes me wish I still lived in an apartment. I had some detergent stolen once or twice, I wish I would've thought of this idea.

Thanks man, I almost used the stuff in the Tide container. Now that I know its bleach, I'll use it to clean my floors.

in college my gf caught a shopping cart lady ripping the stamps off letters she had left out for the postman 🙁

anyways, i really hope you see someone with a bunch of bleached clothes!

As soon as the thief pops the lid off he'll certainly smell the bleach, so don't expect him to even bother.
