So.. someone CUT my ethernet cable..

and I'm posting this on another computer. I have no wireless router, and the cable was around 20-30 foot long. Is there anyway I can repair it? (Obviously I'm a newb), or do I have to get a new cable?

Damn I hate this computer.

Couldn't get the damn insulation off with a knife so I had to burn it. And my speed is faster than before, haha.

Used to be 2.6 Mbps
Took a test and its around 2.7+

Why would someone cut your ethernet cable? Do you live in a dorm or something?

Buy yeah, it can be repaired... but if someone cut it once I don't know why they wouldn't cut it again....

Solder it. Just don't mix the colours up. It's a pain in the ass job but it's easy enough. Make sure you use plenty of insulation tape.

Repairing it might be a little counter-productive until you find out why it was cut in the first place though.

You're confusing Male with Female Connectors.

A Female/Female Connector is another word for a Coupler. A little piece of plastic that has two female ends on it (read: ethernet jacks).

I guess it depends on the wording. I read a Female/Female Connector as describing what ports are on the connector. Not what you're plugging into it.

Cripes, just plop down $5 and buy a new one.

You'll spend at least an hour trying to strip the wires, twist them, solder them, tape them and then realize that you have a 1 inch diameter ball in the middle of your cable and end up buying a new one anyway.

If you have access to the necessary crimping tool to cut and then push all the little pins in the ethernet connector piece without them touching each other...

I'd suggest just getting a new ethernet cable. If the ethernet cable is all installed in the walls, then you can go get those tools and then fix it.
