So I was getting ready to go to bed, and some guys car alarm started going off.... It went on for a couple minutes and then turned off, only to restart about 10 minutes later. It went on all night, woke me up about 6 times. Don't think my wife got that much sleep at all (she's a really light sleeper). So, the second time it woke me up I called the landlord's office (we live in an apartment, the office has a message service so it gets answered all the time), they (the message service) told us to call the cops and make a noise complaint. So I did, and aparently they did nothing, because it kept on going off until I left for work this morning. (why wouldn't they just look up the plates, and call the moron, right?). I left an note on his car, something to the extent of (@ssclown, your car alarm kept everyone up last night, make sure it doesn't happen again) and my wife is going to talk to the building manager today. If it happens again tonight its open season! what should I do?

call the cops...they can bring an auto guy to disable it and then charge the guy with the car with a massive bill

You know it's not his fault his alarm went off, can happen to anybody. No need to be an @ss to the guy.

I'm not sure what else you could have done. I know I would have been pissed.

And if that doesn't work, you can just organize a local neighborhood car-smashing party, heheh...

I would have called the copes every half hour until someone showed up and did something about it.

See if you can cut the wire to the siren from under the car. If you can't get to it, then you can always smash the window and open the hood.

thats what i was thinking about... although Id probably disconnect the battery and close the hood back up.
I should see if those kind of cars are easy to unlock the door from the outside. (mazda protege, looks fairly recent). I've openned doors before (legally of course, my old accent, ford taurus, chevy minivan, big rig doors (those are the easiest). I'll have to look into it

Most mazda's are a little harder to get the hang of with a slim jim. If I remember right with most mazda's you have to bend it towards the vehical at about a 45 degree angle. good luck

It's his fault if he set his alarm too sensitive. If he's not paying attention to his alarm and it's keeping people up, then he deserves to get towed. I've been living in apartments for almost 5 years now, and this sh!t happens all the time. Some dumbass gets a new alarm and has it set up so sensitive that every gust of wind sets it off.

Well, setting the car on fire would definitely get someone to fix it, heh.

I still don't understand the point of car alarms. At first I used to look when one went off. Now if one goes off in a parking lot nobody seems to notice or care, I sure as hell don't.

It helps with insurance costs. Other than that I hardly see the point.

Many insurers will not give you a break for car alarms, they don't stop theft.
