I get the impression it is starting to get out of control? Now it's moving into Nigeria which has 200 million people.

Yes. I think given today's ease of international travel such outbreaks are always of concern.

Out breaks such as these are always a concern and the situation will need to be monitored by WHO and others. It's not a HUGE problem yet, but it has potential to be pretty bad.

Malaria kills 500,000 people in Africa every year, this ebola outbreak has killed 600. I think this is a story that the news likes because it's different and grisly and can gain traction. But as a health hazard to the world at large, no.

I believe transmission requires contact, so if my recollection is correct I elect not to be too concerned.

Ebola has a high mortality rate, but it's not something to be too concerned about yet. Though this shows that better screening will have to take place to make sure the virus doesn't leave affected areas.

Malaria and the flu are far more deadly though.

It's a concern, but unless it somehow makes it across the Atlantic I'm not going to leave town or anything.

Meh, if It gets really bad, I've been told by Hollywood that they'll nuke us from orbit anyways.
