So pretty...

It's a nice car, just not for me. If you really like, then go for it. It's your money!!!

Hmmm. More specifically, I've been told that the SMG transmissions are bad news, and that if it takes a dive I'm looking at a $5k repair bill. Non abused/super high mileage manual ones don't seem to exist.

Yeah, I'd be wary of that. Those suckers are expensive as hell to replace.

Sexy car but I'd look into something newer. BMW parts are expensive as fuck. 740 power seat motor costed me $700 and there are three of them in each seat.

Yeah it's exactly at private party BB value for a car in excellent condition. Would definitely have to come down a bit.

Almost the exact car I'm getting next except I'm looking for a 2006. Definitely get the SMG gear with the paddles. I wanted the CSL version but they are extremely hard to find, very expensive and don't have AC nor radio which was a deal breaker.

Repairs are not cheap...make sure the subframe is not cracking and the VANOS is not making any odd sounds (rattles). Make sure oil has been changed AT LEAST at given BMW intervals with the proper 10W-60 Castrol oil and that Inspections I and II have been performed on schedule. Ensure the 1200 mile was performed close to that mileage. I'd wait and get a manual...but that is just my personal preference. I know Koing has a SMG and seems to like it a good bit.

I've ridden in an SMG version and thought the shifting was a bit too violent at WOT. EVen at lower speeds it felt "thumpy."

I am not sure if this was the nature of the SMG or if it was just a bad gearbox, but shifting like that constantly would mess me up after a bit.

When I "thumped" my Jetta or RX-8, I feel like saying sorry to it. lol
