well, thats what some would would think, but i have not seen any homeless people in Newport Beach or irvine. And I think Newport Beach is one of the richest cities in America

So is there an actual city called Orange County or do the people who live there think they are so important that they just refer to where they live as the county name and not the actual city they live in?

I have always wondered this. I have seen a city on the map of LA called Orange but I don't think that is what Orange County refers to.

There's a city called Orange, bordering Anaheim..for every instance of "x county" there always exists a city called 'x'.

And since Orange County is simply made of several smaller cities..so it's generally referred to as just the area.

well its not a single factor. it depends how they are treated as well. doesn't matter if the area is rich if the police are told to crack down on them all the time. in more lax areas like san fran the homeless lobby is strong and the homeless problem has become pretty bad.

Anaheim has less than 150k people?

I never saw a homeless person until I moved to Los Angeles in 1990. You're high on crack or you haven't been paying attention if you've never seen a homeless person.

Uh...I'll just deal with half of what's wrong with your statement.

I know of only one occasion of snow in the last couple decades in Orange County

I thought you guys call yourself "The O.C."

Prior to that show, no one had ever referred to Orange County as "The O.C."

QFT. It was always Orange County or the Orange Curtain.

I've been to irvine and I've seen homeless people. Your point is null and void.

I'm sure the weather around the beach is a good reason for it, not too hot or too cold outside most of the time.

I've seen bums in huntington beach and I've also seen bums and a hooker in garden grove/stanton. I used to live right by a homeless camp in LA county up at the mouth of the san gabriel river in duarte/azusa. It was on the news recently because the army core of engineers were kicking them out and buldozing the river bed soon. They took news cameras into the camp and I was surprised to see they built decent shelters and had generators powering a TV of all things. I had ridden by on the bike path many times but never even knew the extent of the homeless camp, I only ever saw a blue tarp and the trail leading through the bushes. I still cant believe they had generators and a tv.
