So, now We've seen nForce v.s KT266A. I think now the most important factor is their overclockabilty!

Ther performance is so close. I thinnk we can call it a tie. But the strange thing is Anand DID NOT mention (as far as I can tell or read) any BIOS revision to improve nForce performance.
Anyway get back to my point, I believe now, the purchase decision making for many buyers will be WHICH will overclock better....
At least that is for me in this case.

overclockability means nothing to me. Performance, stability, price and USEFUL features are. The only useful feature that the nForce has is sound. Video is useless as I'd disable it in a second. And NIC, bah... a NIC is a NIC, eveyone has a few NIC around their house laying around. The nForce has a NIC integrated, big deal.

And because of that, it looks like I'll be getting a KT266A board as soon as they come out!

I would like to see how the Augoidy(how do you spell it again?) soundcard does compare to Live series.

I totally agree. The issue here that could largely affect things, is does KT266A still suffer from the 138MHz fsb issue? If it does, nForce has got my money.

KT266 boards can't go above 138fsb or USB kicks out. As far as I'm concerned, that made me never even think about buying a KT266 board. Only 760, I dunno if KT266A fixes it or not.

Stability and compatibility are the number 1 questions. We've seen plenty of chipset/mobo reviews that look promising, only to find out otherwise later. Once real users get them and start putting them through their paces, we will know what is good and what isn't. VIA has much to prove in this area due to past issues, nV is too new at this to judge.

Just think................Epox 8KHA2's are supposedly coming out in two days, or so says Axiontech and pcroyal. I really hope thats true, cause I need a motherboard now, and now that it appears Nforce is pretty pathetic in straight up performance, which is what I'm looking for then they can go to hell with all their add ons and for 115$ I'll get a superior KT266A and use what I save buy a Geforce 3. How ironic, either way nvidia is getting my money.

Anyway has anybody heard anything about the OCZ Titan III that looks like a kick ass card. Anyone have this?

True that with NForce especially, Compatibilty is going to be do-or-die thing. Stability, I think isn't gonna be a problem with KT266A or nForce.

<< Nforce is pretty pathetic in straight up performance >>

i wouldn't go that far. the nforce was able to keep up with the kt266a in all of the tests. it's just that the chipset was very hyped up, and we expected more from it. it's not a bad chipset by any means (it beats out my epox 8k7a), but it's just not the best out there.

Don't tell anybody guys, I never base my purchasing decisions based on "reference boards", or anything of that sort- I seem to recall a couple of years ago some folks were telling you that the Athlon needed quite a bit of work if it was to compete with the latest PII's, much less the up & coming Pentium III's.....
