It is more expensive than X800XT???? This is funny, or sad, I don't really know.

No sh!t! I understand it's in short supply, but it's slower than an X800XT, and those are readily available. WTF?!

Isn't ATI wasting their money by even bothering to ship this thing? They would probably laugh if they knew anyone bought it for more than they could've gotten an XT for...

Getting close now and it is about time. I was planning on going pci e at Christmas and now it looks more like summer before prices settle. Computers just are not improving at as quick a rate, which may be a good thing for the old budget.

Wow...this is worse than the nForce4 SLI motherboard price-gouging. And from ZZF too. Disappointing to say the least...

hopefully ATI starts shipping those pre-orders from their shop...

I'm surprised how these online retailers have the cards before the ATI shop itself.. Aren't THEY the ones that manufacture the cards? so they should have them first...

The card linked to in this thread is a Sapphire (OEM) board, not an ATI-brand (BBA) one. The ATI store will probably have the BBA cards before anyone else, but ATI might have been shipping the first few batches of chips to OEM card manufacturers or something along those lines.

It's also on Allstarshop, for the low low price of $449. With free shipping! :p

yes, X800XL for $300 is a great deal, so don't but it from these places for $450+. No big deal. If you can't buy it anywhere get a 6800 or 6800GT, plain and simple.

This card will drop in price in about 2 weeks or so. Comeone, don't you remember when the Asus A8N SLI came out it was over $250, well that began to steadily decrease, but it seems like it's still a bit over $200 at most places (I think Newegg has yet to even change their price from $269, ripoff) Anyway, that was the first SLI Mobo that came out, and people were ready to give their left nut for it. This will drop to its MSRP in no more then 2 weeks. If it doesn't, then give it 3 more days,.

Okay, THAT is the bottom line! If that is the standard of the future, I am DONE upgrading my computer even semi-frequently.

Honestly, when my bought my Ti4200 it was a decent card and cost $140. Top of the line at the time was a 4600 or 9700 Pro which cost $300 or less. Now, the standard for top-of-the-line has become $500, with $300-$400 being needed for a "pretty good" card. Now, $850 for top-of-the-line??? And you can't say it's just the natural inflation of the economy; motherboards and CPUs cost JUST as much today as they did a few years ago. Motherboards have been $80-$150 for as long as I can remember, and CPUs haven't changed much, either. The absolute best has always been a grand, and you have always been able to get a damn good performing CPU for under $150.

Actually the ti4600 did cost $400 initially. If I remember correctly, the Geforce 2 ultra or something like that was $500+ 5 years ago or so.

News flash: ATi set the MSRP for $300. Companies who sell it can price it at whatever they want.

Think.. THEN reply.

Actually, since we are being smartasses here..

all he has to do is show you a 6800GT PCIE for $600 in stock.

All Rollo said is that everyone said the X800XL was $300 (but since its not available for less than $500), and that everyone was bragging about saving $100, the X800XL is $500, sooooo-
that means all he has to prove is that theres a $600 GT out there instock. :D

I'll save everyone the time:

edit- omg, even $550.. didnt even notice.. everyone who wants the x800xl.. now THIS is a bargain!

So NOW the ATI fanboys are only saving $50! :D

So do you have a point, or just another fan of the nvidia salesman? Still is interesting that the x800xl is about as available as the 6800gt pci e. Sort of the Pcie vapour war.
