well, i live in NJ and i have tried to go directly to BC/BS directly and to Aetna directly, prices are still the same. i have a family, so i don't expect it to be cheap. I was just commenting on the $50.00 / month. that is not realistic and DOESN'T EXIST.
Well I was specifically referring to when one's employer provided health insurance goes from "free" to $50/month co-pay, which I sorta implied when there after I mentioned one's already existing prescription co-pay increasing by $10, but perhaps it wasn't clear what I meant.
It is also a falsehood to say that $50.00/month health insurance doesn't exist. In Michigan, for $10/per month, per child, you can get health insurance for your children if you are low income through a program sponsored by the University of Michigan and an HMO whose name escapes me at the moment.
But yeah, typically when I hear someone griping about "I can't afford" this or that thing , I have to wonder whether they really mean "I can't afford that AND maintain my current lifestyle".
I know, I was one of those people not too long ago. $1500 for a stereo system? No problem! $3500 for a television? Let me at it. $28,000 for a nice ride? Get the sales contract ready. Another $2500 for rims, tires, and accessories? Of course, they are a must for that ride!
But $200 to see a dentist or $150 for a health examination, physical, and a prescription? GAWD DAMN JESUS F-CKING CHRIST THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IS OUT OF F-CKING CONTROL WITH THE SKY HIGH COSTS OF TREATMENT HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO AFFORD THAT ITS HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!!
