Am I hearing/reading this right? There will be a 55nm refresh of GTX 260 but no refresh of GTX 280? I've been waiting to buy a custom 3rd party cooling solution because I thought there was a refresh coming for 280. So now I shouldn't wait anymore?

from the latest rumored chart i have seen, a 40 or 45nm refresh is being made... But who knows...
Some guy posted a picture on some forum of some chart that claims to be from nvidia.

I saw that, but if that is the 280 refresh, it won't be out for 6 months plus :/

That makes sense they want to get the 260 so it outperforms the HD4870 while the 280 stills stands alone as the fastest single card.

it is the fastest single slot multi GPU...
Useful for people who have only one slot and don't mind the downsides of multi GPU.
Highest end right now if you are going to go the multi GPU route is:
2x4870x2 (2x550$ = 1100$) vs 3xGTX280 (3x400$ = 1200$)

The 4870x2 is a very good card, nice bang for the buck at it's performance and price range. But it is multi GPU.

No. At least, not the coming refresh.

Who knows these days, as the GTX 260 refresh didn't take 6 months (based on what I read around the 'net).
