So Newegg duplicated my order...

I placed an order and my browser timed out after confirming the order (my cable has been a little weird today) -- the confirmation page never displayed, and I did not receive a confirmation email. I waited about an hour and then placed the order again, this time receiving both a confirmation screen and a confirmation email.

So I thought all was fine, but now after being out for the night I check my email and I have TWO emails supplying tracking numbers from FedEx, and both packages are en route. I emailed Newegg immediately explaining the situation, but I notice that they aren't open until 7:00 AM. So I thought I'd try calling FedEx and see if they can stop the shipment immediately as it had only gotten to the shipping center so far, but they told me that only the shipper can do that.

I'm guessing Newegg won't get my email or respond until after 7; I have no idea if they have overnight email staff at all. I offered to pay for the cost of the shipping if they can cancel the shipment and refund that charge to my credit card.

Wonder what they'll do?

Well, I would hope that they would do the right thing and help you out, but you DID place the order twice, computer/internet problems or not.

Yes, but there is always a confirmation email immediately following the order, and there was none given. It was never sent at all. I have one email with the initial confirmation, then suddenly two 'your credit card was charged' and two 'your package has shipped' emails.

I know better than to immediately resubmit the order, but I waited plenty of time (I thought.)

Hopefully they'll help me out. Otherwise I'm stuck with two NEC 3520-A drives and two SD cards to try to sell and cover the losses :/

After an hour of waiting with no e-mail and never seeing a confirmation screen, I can't blame you, I would've done the same thing.

During business hours, give NewEgg a call and explain to the person what happened, they will help you out. You may have to eat the shipping cost, or they might take care of it all for you. Kinda depends on who answers your call.

Better yet if your at home Recieve one package and tell the fedex guy you are refusing delievery of the other then when you get in touch with newegg tell them you did this. It will save you having to ship it back.

If you wont be home I would highly suggest against leaving a note trying to explain to the fedex guy you only want one of the two. They aren't the smartest people sometimes especially when they are trying to make their deliveries.

I ended up returning a few uncooperating parts to Newegg, and they waived the restocking fee (which I fully expected to pay). Explain your situation and I'm sure they'll help you out.

Just say you dont want one of them....tell them you "decided you didnt need to" :p....they will take it back...just MAKE SURE YOU CALL so you dont get charged a restocking fee (you only get the restock fee if you fill out the RMA online)

I dont think thats the correct reasoning....its their job and they have regulations they have to follow....and MANY other houses to go to...they dont have time trying to please each individual request...esp something like that

You do know that you they have this wonderful tool at Newegg where you can check the status of your order. Why would you rely on an email when you can simply sign in to your account and check the status of the order (and actually see if it was placed)?

Yeah, I should have checked that. I wasn't thinking.

I just spoke with Newegg and Fedex and they're going to refund the entire purchase amount once it is returned to them.

This would have probably already been taken care of but the Fedex representative I spoke with last night was mistaken about something (she told me that only the sender could cancel shipment) so it traveled all the way to ND needlessly, but I'm happy that they took care of this for me. Newegg is going to keep getting referrals from me

I am always amazed how well NewEgg handles this stuff. Glad to hear that everything went well.

Whoa, it's here today, and the right packages were delivered/refused.

I'm amazed at how fast they get stuff to you. They got my order Monday and it's here Wednesday before noon with Fedex ground.

You know, I used to use Pricewatch in past purchases because usually you can find stuff a few bucks cheaper than Newegg/ZZF, but I really think it's worth paying slightly more for superb customer service after this experience. But you guys probably knew that :p
