As to the shiny piece of jewelry...it really isn't that noticable, my fiance's tongue ring is barely noticable...and if CPA & his wife are that worried about it, there are clear plastic tongue studs that can be used for office settings.

Uhh I had mine in for 5 years, and it was an 8 gauge, and I never had a change in my speech pattern. Unless you looked hard or I was sticking it out most people couldn't tell I had it.

I thought tongue rings were pretty much out now. Around 99-00, everyone had a tongue ring. Now, I don't see very many. Actually I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Have your wife talk to a dentist before she gets it. I know several people who busted their teeth up with a tongue ring...

Maybe it was a supervisor at a company I worked for that did it to me.

We had this guy on our team that had one in his tounge and one in his lip. and he Played with it non stop it was almost revolting. well he walked up to my sup one day. and my sup looked at him and said "What do you have a testical on the other side of that thing the way you play with it you'd think you getting off on it"

The guy Took it out and never wore it to work again. and since then the idea Disturbs me.
