I'm still not sure what all is missing.

I called the police and they asked some questions and said they would send out an officer as soon as possible. They took my backpack that was full of my school stuff, and ripped out my stereo along with my sub and amp.

My insurance doesn't cover the stereo because its after market and my home owners is a $500 deductible.

I know right now that there was also some mail taken that may have had some bank info on it. I tried calling the bank to get a fraud alert put on but they said I do it online, but all I can find there is changing my security question.

Does anyone know what measures I need to take to keep from being a victim of identity theft?

Looks like I am going to have to buy new textbooks, graphing calculator, etc. :(

BS. What would you do if your computer was stolen?

Talk to someone who knows what they're doing. You'll know you have the right person when they say "Yes sir, we'll do that right now."

Well my insurance is through my parents, I think its farmers. My dad called them and said that they told him they wouldn't cover after market stuff.

Your books, though! If you're a college student, the books will eat up that $500 deductible in a hurry.

state farm only covers aftermarket if it is permanently bolted to the vehicle. when someone took my stereo and speakers that were behind the seat (custom made 6X9 cabs, they couldnt get to the subs in time) they almost didnt cover them until i told them they were custom made. apparently thats a clause in their policy. amps not bolted down arent replaced.

Well I only had two books in the backpack, and the stereo was professionally installed.

The cops came by and told me that there were a bunch of break ins in the area last night. Apparently someone came through and made off with a bunch of different valuables from different cars.

I used to do the custom truck thing when I was younger and dumber. I had my truck broken into a few times everytime I lost my stereo, speakers/subs, and amps not once did State Farm (they are still my insurer) ask if they were bolted down nor did they check only thing they wanted was owners manuals and S/N's. I dont think that applies maybe in your state or policy but not in mine in SC or MS. I had at one time $1500 worth of stuff taken out of my bed (It had a snug top) that I had just purchased with my tax return to revamp my system all replaced the only thing not covered was my CD's. Weird that they wouldnt cover yours.. they even threw in $50 per item for reinstall.
