So...my travel insurance denied the coverage...

remember those travel insurances that protect you from cancelllation fees if you change or cancel your flight? Well, i guess this is just one of those lessons that I have yet to learn.

About two weeks ago, i was on vacation and got a call from my boss wanted me to go back to work on something urgent. So I cancelled my original return flight thinking that I've got the insurance coverage, it can't hurt. well, now two weeks later, AccessAmerica is saying the insurance does not cover personal or business-related reason, so I am doomed. I lost not only the cancellation charge but the $15 insurance cost as well. 🙁

Sorry you didn't understand the restrictions but it's obvious why they have to do it that way. Plane tickets with a Saturday night stayover are cheaper because it generally rules out business travelers. If they allowed insurance claims for a situation like yours, you would have every business traveler buying tickets with a Saturday night stayover plus the insurance, then leaving at their convenience because "they had to go back to work." Even with the insurance cost, it would save money and they would have every business traveler filing claims on nearly every trip.

what other reasons are left?

Tell your boss to ante up. What kind of job would not compensate you generously for this sort of situation?

A hurricane's a good one if you're going to the carribean in the summer.

1) you are a idiot for not reading it before you purchased it

2) you are a even bigger idiot for answering the phone while on vacation.

No shit. Why is something so damn simple such an issue?!

Your boss is a moron. And if I were you I would seriously consider finding another job.

Illness is not considered personal from what I understand, so illness or natural disaster, which is good enough for $15. On the off chance that you get so ill you can't fly or like someone pointed out there is a hurricane where you are going you get a full refund.

Yeah, seems pretty simple, if the boss wants you back, then he should pick up the tab. But then you probably should have negotiated that while he was on the phone calling you.
