So my temps where a bit high this morning...

This morning I checked my PC temps, and the CPU was at 51ºC. That's a bit too high since is not a hot day today and my 2.8 Northwood is running at 36ºC.

So, I started to think the my exhaust fan was blowing air to quickly, not letting the CPU fan cool the heatsink. I unplugged it at the temp. dropped 7ºC.

It seems that my Panaflo was sucking too much air out, and the Zalman wasn't able to cool down its heatsink. Is this possible?

I'm gonna keep trying and see if I'm right, probably with a lower CFM fan or something.

Well, nevermind. I tried with a different fan, with a lower CFM rating. CPU temp was the same, but the motherboard was 4º hotter.

I re installed the Panaflo and today everything's back to normal. 42º for the CPU and 30º for the motherboard.

Air Dynamics is not something that is simple. We like to dumb it down to "Air flow in = Air flow out" but many times its not as easy as that. There are turbulent factors, obstructions, other things that cause heat to be "trapped". Even the mobo sensors can act up!

Im not sure what was the problem in your case. Do you have an intake fan? If so, is it blowing too high of a cfm for your rear fan to exhaust? I've found that my temps increase when my intake fan is more than 9V. The sweet spot happens to be at 7V. This is the stock antec 120mm low rpm fan. In the rear is a 5.5V evercool 120.
