Took it out last night to take some low light pictures. Haven't touched it since Feb 06 so the battery was out. Charged it up for a few minutes and turned it on but wtf, lcd screen was blacked out but still showing icons and menus. Snapped a few pics and reviewed them but were black as well. The previous pictures on the memory card showed up fine. Decided to jump on the net to see if I can find anything about this problem. Low and behold there's a confirm defect with the CCD image unit on some batches of their digicams on Sony's website. Apparently there's a class action lawsuit on this so they are repairing all defective units for free along with free shipping both ways. Brought a sigh of relief but it shouldn't take a class action lawsuit for them to disclose something was wrong and to take action.

I just got my P200 back from repair last week. It had a CCD problem also. I have to give it to sony though, that was the quickest I have ever recieved a repair and the most hassle free as well. They recieved my shipment on Thur and had it back in the mail on Fri.

 sony repair
