I let my friend borrow my shuttle.

she returned it a few months later.

she said that it was getting slower and slower over time, and every time they reset it, it took longer to boot.

finally, now when i press the power button, i hear it power up, but nothing happens. no boot screen, no post.

what's wrong w/it?!???

Need more info as to model, equipment, etc....

But, a good way to start is to strip it down to just the processor and memory and try booting it that way (probably should clear the CMOS, too). If that works, add things one at a time until it exhibits problems. If it doesn't, you'll need a few replacement parts to troubleshoot with...

Do you know what your friend was doing with it for the "few months"? What applications was she running, or was it just web surfing? Could she have picked up a virus? Could she have "accidently" monkeyed with the bios? I would probably make sure that the memory is well seated and clear the CMOS with the jumper and then see if it will post. Other than that, we may need more information.

A full cofiguration list might help, as we can mention if there are any known issues. Good luck!

so i fixed it.
:)

I unplugged it. reset the cmos (via jumper)

plugged it back in.

held down the insert key and powered it up.

it booted to the bios screen. cmos was jacked.

i went tot he shuttle site and got updates on cmos and bios.

ran them.

works great! :D

Rufio, now that you fixed it, any clue as to how it got that way? Wonder what your friend did or was doing to shake the cmos up.

I was adjusting some memory stuff in the bios and that's how mine happened.
