No, you're not trying to help, you're using this guy's thread as a platform for showing off your Sony pride. People probably keep buying 360s for the same reason people actually bought the PS3 after the failure rate of PS2s were obscenely high, which is that they have a great game library. Or do you just ignore this fact that the PS2s were problem-ridden and that the PS3's library leaves something to be desired for the sake of taking cheap shots so that people can ignore you more easily?

lol. I bought my first and only PS2 in 2003 and it is working fine to this day. I have no idea what chronic PS2 problems you're talking about. XBOX 360, OTOH, has widespread problems. I can bet almost every 360 owner has had problems with their shitty console., including you.

And I am no Sony fanboy, just pointing out the obvious I'm sorry if it hurts your feeings (not really). If Sony had shitty hardware problems, I would rag on them as well.

The PS2 had just as many problems with "Disc Read Error" issues as the Xbox has RRoD issues. It's the biggest reason they made the PS2 Slim... which still has issues, apparently.

I think most of theoir problems were fixed by 2003. But it is fact that they had severe problems with the disk reading. I'm on my 4th PS2. The slims seem to work fine. The difference between how Sony and MS handled it was huge though. Sony never, that I know of, admitted a problem or changed their warranty, M$ did.

Launch 360s have a higher failure rate than even those shitty first gen PS2s though. Newer 360s don't seem to have a problem. My dad, 3 brothers, and myself all have Falcons and have never had a problem. I did have a first gen 360 that red ringed once but it was covered under the warranty then I traded it in to GS with this amazing deal they were having and I paid like 30 dollars for a falcon with HDMI.

It's an odd situation... the consumer has to choose between shitty hardware or shitty software... maybe one day they'll figure out they're both good at different aspects of this console war and well get an XStation (Sony HW, Microsoft SW).

Sony's software, while nowhere near as bad as Microsoft's hardware, has a problem keeping up with Sony's own hardware. If anything, Sony tries to be ambitous with their hardware and developers cannot keep up. But this isn't surprising in the least considering they are a hardware engineering company and MS is a software company.

I liked what Microsoft was doing with Sega until they stabbed Sega in the back. Microsoft has no honor.

More so the problem is that Sony doesn't design the system to be developer friendly. Microsoft seems to do a good job of making their hardware easy to program for (based on developer reaction) and it sounds like the PS3 w/ the cell is more difficult to use to it's full potential.

I personally find the software more important, even if it means a week of two every year waiting for a replacement, however MS seems to be getting to the end of the hardware issues, it's now going to be up to Sony to get their software up to speed.

Also I personally have no moral issues with MSFT.

This would only work if the problem is the GPU becoming seperated from the motherboard. Only way to find out if this is the case is to wait for it to finish dying. If its RROD then X-clamp.
