Hi all - in the last week or so I have noticed a game crashing out with artifacts after 30-45 mins, so assuming it was just the summer heat I i turned all my fans up and ignored the problem. However just now I booted up and there were random non-ASCII characters filling my POST screen. Right from first boot - nothing loaded. I replaced the driver in Windows just in case but obviously this did nothing.
Things I have tried:
- New drivers.
- Removing the card, cleaning it (including dust in HS), cleaning out all the ports and power connectors associated with the card, then reseating it.
- A different known-good DVI cable.
- A different slot on the modular PSU for the extra 12V connector.
- Checking voltage on the extra 12V power connectior - it read exactly 12V.
- Using the other DVI port to connect to the monitor.
- Using a different machine with the monitor - it was fine. It was over VGA though not DVI like I use with the main box.
- Resetting all overclocks/restore default
- Increasing the NB and PCIE voltages by 0.1 then 0.2 volts.
- Visually checking capacitors on the card. I found them as expected - not bulging etc - but they are the 'heavy duty' metal cased types found on Gigabyte products so it'shard to tell.
- Checking temps. They are fine.
I can't connect the original machine to the monitor via VGA to check if it's a DVI-only issue, but I don't suspect both DVI ports have died in exactly the same way at the same time, and I have tried both, so I'm assuming DVI ports are good here.
Frankly I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have one for me? Because otherwise I have to get a new card and/or possibly motherboard and I simply can't buy those right now. It will be laptop only for me until I get paid...
Please suggest anything you think might help - anything you've heard, an old arcane hack, whatever. I'll put fied eggs and chips on there if it'll help 😉
Thanks in advance AT! I'm relying on you!
