So my GF has been brainwashed... (Monster cable gripe)

My GF works at CC, and I asked her to pick up some thin-gauge wire so I can move my Z560 sattelites further towards the back of my room, as the wire that comes with it is getting a little stretched. So I picked out a 100ft roll of RCA wiring, was lke 4 bucks with her discount. I gave her 20 bucks for that and 2 USB cables, thinking I'd get like 10 bucks back. She comes back "I almost didn't have enough to pay for it all!" I'm thinking, what? That shouldn't have been any more than 10 bucks! She pulls out a roll of thicker gauge monster cable that went for 15 bucks with her discount... *sigh*

"You need thicker wire or else it's gonna sound like crap!"
"Hunny, these aren't being wired to a home theater system, they're 3 inch sattelites pushing what, 40-60watts? The thin stuff will do fine, can you exchange it for me? I didn't wanna spend much at all on this"


she's been brainwashed, you don't need platinum-plated wiring for 200 dollar speakers!
 
What gauge is the RCA cable? I have some Z-560's that need speaker wire too. Can I have your gf('s discount)? 😛

My girlfriend's father got the same runaround when he tried to get some cables to hook up his DVD player to his new widescreen (probably HD) tv. And come to think of it, that kind of thing is probably what sold him the big TV too. Anyway, he ended up with a small fortune in cables, which in and of itself isn't all bad - it wasn't my money he was spending after all; it was his. But after all that he had the wrong cables. So he took the whole wad back to best buy and is still left with a useless DVD player. I think I'll have to hook him up when I go down to Georgia with my girlfriend over the Christmas break.

I was reading in one of my Audio/Video magazines that the salesmen at some Best Buy stores were trying to get people to buy the extended warranties so you wouldn?t have to pay when it was time to replace the plasma in your plasma screen and you also needed the monster power strip so the other TVs in your house didn't ruin the signal on the HD TV. Maybe Circut City is better. 😀

I dunno, aren't they all off comission now? I actually had to track down a sales guy when I wanted to buy Soul Caliber 2 on the release date. A year ago I couldn't walk into a CC without beating back salespeople.

My BB has more selection anyway, even if they do try and push the warranty on me.

The guy at my local Best Buy tried to tell me the S400 battery would only last for 1/2 an hour and that the manufacturers deliberately do this on all cameras to get you to buy accessories. He also claimed that I wouldn't be able to hold sh!t on the 32mb card, and that I needed other stuff as well. I even called him on his lie but he still continued to BS, so I went to Good Guys instead and bought it there. Not like I'm going to buy CF retail anyway.
