And this is one of the replies he gets:

Hi. My name is Jennifer xxxx. I saw your aid in "craigslist" about sharing a room in albany and i'm intrested in it. I'm 16 and
my mom will be living with me. I'm currently attenting Albany High School. Can you please give me a call at (xxx)xxx-xxxx? thank
you!

Sounds like a bad plot for a sitcom..or a reality tv show.

I love when people being supported by someone else say 'They are living with me' or 'They live in my house also'.

I remember when I was looking for an apt and roommates in Berkeley. I signed up with Cal housing, and they set me up on a mailing list. I indicated I wanted to share apt with a roommate, so they sent me apts with roommates as well. What they did not indicate, was whether it was another student looking for somone to split the costs with, or whether it was the owner itself renting the room in apt.

So, I get this listing and decide to give it a shot. Drive all the way from South Bay to Oakland, and following the map, end up in the ghettoest part of town. I've been living in the States for little over 6 months back then; little did I know about Oakland and stuff. All right, so I get out of the car and ring the bell. This black lady opens the door, and she's shaved bald and dressed in some weird-shit rags.

She says 'Hi. I'm the owner of the apt, and I'm renting a room. I'm vegan, so please no meat in my house. I have two cats, hope you like 'em. I have a spiritual leader in Tibet, and here's his picture. I also have a [female] 'partner' who frequently comes over and stays with me. I hope you understand what I'm talking about. As for the neighborhood, it's nice. We are not all black here - there's another white person living on the block. Sometimes a druggie would set up on a street or crash on a porch, but police takes care of that quickly. We don't have shootings here either'.

By the time she finished, I was like: daaaaamn. Thank you, Cal.
So, I politely declined and left :)

Yeah, the 'no meat' part was the last drop. Plus, it was freaking far away from the university, too.
