I'm much more comfortable with the idea of employment discrimination against felons than I am with voter disenfranchisement of felons. I feel that is an egregious violation of the basic rights of this country's citizens. The constitutional amendment text used to justify it (the 14th I think?) makes it difficult to overturn at the federal level, I guess...? In any case it is a serious injustice.

Misdemeaner != felony.

Have him spend a few $s to do a background check on himself and see what shows up.

If I was an employer and he put down a felony and my BG check showed misdemeaner (or nothing), I'd think he was a dumb@ss and wouldn't hire him.

I never really wanted to own a gun and I've worked for the government already and I wouldn't do that again anyway! :)

he'll just have to go into the certain types of industries/careers where they don't ask and don't do background checks
or work for himself/business owner
