I bought a LG Optimus T, great phone, good reviews, love the phone but today i was exploring the menus and in the system menu there was an update feature, so i clicked it thinking maybe it was android 2.3 , downloaded the update and said it would take 10 min to install, that was fine with me, i click the okay button and my phone restarts in emergency mode, cant do a damn thing now

Looked thru the manual and called tech support, tried to reset the phone, nothing.

Looked online and found two other people with the same problem with the same phone, one person returned theirs, which is what im doing , the other sent theres to LG.

Very disappointed, love this phone, already bought t-mobiles crappy 16 dollar screen protector and ordered a cover for the phone.

Cant believe i bricked the phone just by updating it through phones software.

p.s my battery was full when i ran the installer.

Doubt it was 2.3 this soon, you'd here a lot online about that. Sorry about your phone though, new enough of a purchase that the warranty is in place?

I will be returning it tomorrow, for another one, but im debating on whether i should go with the same phone. i dont want to have this problems when im out of waranty or return policy.

Heres another person with the same exact problem, we bought the same phone the same day and two days later the phone is bricked lol the only difference is i initiated the update, he was alerted by the phone to update

I'd consider the MyTouch 4G or the G2 instead if you're going to stick with TMobile...

This. Stay away from Samsung. Samsungs are the mythical sirens in smartphone land. They look pretty, they will sing to you....then you're fucked.

OP has LG and the Optimus phones have all been rated well for low-end Android phones.

I know silly. But I wanted to make sure when he turns the phone in for an exchange, he isn't tempted by the Samsung's in the showroom.
(I myself is totally interested in the Optimus 2x that might make it's way down T-Mobile stateside.)

The internets tell me LG's Optimus T has gorilla glass. You need not waste money on protectors.

exchanged the phone and got a new one, t-mobile employee has no idea what could of happened and sais has only seen this kind of thing when people try to flash their phones.
i tried a floor model to see if it updates and it was up to date and said it was updated in November, so according to the floor model there hasent been an update since november and also i when the t-mobile guy looked for an an update on my phone it gave back an error and also when i tried it from home i got the same error.

Im sure the guy probably thinks i tried to flash my phone which is not the case, but oh well.

Lesson learned, dont update your phone unless you googled the update and made sure other people have the same update and it hasn't bricked their phone.
