isn't DLP meh?
Or is it still worthwhile

really?
I mean I've been hearing lots of negative things about big 720p's...
I was trying to persuade them to get a 40 inch 1080p for around the same price but they wouldn't...

it also depends on the quality of the incomming signal and the cables used

I recommend monster cables for the best sound quality.

Of course, it means nothing if you don't have a good audio system. I recommend Bose.

It's late and my sarcasm meter is slowing down. You are joking, right?

He must work for Best Buy:D

Between 720p and 1080i yes I would say there is a good noticeable difference at that size. Not the kind of difference where you would say OMG I have to have 1080i right away but comparing the same scenes in movies would yield a noticeable difference. At that size there is no decernable difference between 1080i and 1080p though, at least not at any comfortable viewing distance.

Not that you would be unhappy with 720p though!

I was thinking the same thing. I sure hope so.

I can tell the difference between 720p and 1080p from 10 feet relatively easily on a 50" I know this because I just saw my cousin's on Thanksgiving and it was relatively apparent to me. That said, I'd STILL recommend a 720p 50" Plasma to my 'rents over a similarly priced 42-46" LCD 1080p. Why? Because they're old. Their first TVs were 10" B+W's with 3 channels. Do you REALLY think they're going to care/notice the difference between 720/1080? Not if they're average consumers they won't. Like it was said earlier, they'll appreciate the larger picture over the higher resolution.

naw man, Bose Knows! I got that set where you only need the two front speakers and the subwoofer and it produces sound so realistic, so lifelike, you don't need any rear surround speakers! I have it hooked up to my bose radio, and I'm just pumpin out the tunes man. Of course it's all hooked up with monster cable, you know it! The salesman said the longer the cable, the more that the sound can "age" in the wires, like a good wine he said. So I bought the 50 feet ones, it cost a pretty penny I tells ya, but you can DEFINITELY hear the difference!
