I just received an email from eBay stating that account is suspended. It doesn't state why. Is this the email that I should be getting for not paying my selling fees on time?!?

Dear XXXX (XXXX@gmail.com),

We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended due to concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the eBay community.

"Abusing eBay" of the eBay User Agreement states, in part:

"...we may limit, suspend, or terminate our service and user accounts, prohibit access to our website, remove hosted content, and take technical and legal steps to keep users off the Site if we think that they are creating problems, possible legal liabilities, or acting inconsistently with the letter or spirit of our policies."

Due to the suspension of this account, please be advised you are prohibited from using eBay in any way. This includes the registering of a new account.

Please note that any seller fees due to eBay will immediately become due and payable. eBay will charge any amounts you have not previously disputed to the billing method currently on file.

Regards,

Safeharbor Department

What startles me is the "Abusing eBay" part... I purchased some eBooks (auction format) to build a feedback score of 10 so I can use the Buy It Now option in selling my items. I've sold about $1500 worth of stuff just fine. I follow a certain format for all of my items and make sure that I don't have inflated shipping prices to get out of the fees... Anyone know if I in fact did abuse eBay's policy or could the email have been sent just because I haven't paid my seller fees yet?

They don't suspend you for your seller fees unless you haven't paid them in months.

I've started several accounts by buying $.01 eBooks to build feedback, so that shouldn't be an issue either.

Have you tried logging into your account to make sure this e-mail is legit?

Yup, I checked by logging onto eBay and the notice popped up again. I can't even check "My eBay" to see when my fees were/are due...

I remember when I made an eBay account a few months ago that I was suspended for the same thing, but I hadn't started selling yet. My account was suspended for buying "Pre-approved" eBooks to build feedback...

Just make sure to open your browser and go to ebay directly. Don't use any links in the email.

When I try clicking on the sidebar menu to access my selling information (or any menu for that matter), I get this message.

I've heard some people do get banned for buying ebooks. Maybe they got to a point... becoming a high risk for ebay.

Sometimes you can see the Purchases on the ebook... and you would notice some are 'No Longer Registered'

But a month after I purchased them? Since when is it against the rules to purchase eBooks (especially when it is in an auction format)... Now that I'm pissed, what happens if I don't pay my fees? I didn't link my paypal account with my eBay account...

That could also be a reason. I always link a seller account to a verified PayPal account; since they are the same company, they share info, especially when evaluating the legitimacy of an account holder.

Hmm, tempting... I'm really close to just making a new eBay account under a new email address since they didn't approach me first about paying my fees. Where's the justification in closing an eBay account without telling the specific reasons on why they have done so? I just shot an email to the support team in hopes of getting an official response. Time will only tell what happens next.

Agreed, I would be a little pissed off too.

Remember that eBay logs everything whenever you use their website or PayPal's. Even if you use different information, they log a variety of details they can use to tie different eBay and PayPal accounts together.

Interesting... I'll just close my paypal account and head over to the bank to make a new account. Shouldn't take any more than 5 minutes :). I'm really curious about the response I will be getting (granted that it's not automated).

I just received my response from eBay. In the email, it stated that they traced my current eBay account to my other one that was banned (from building feedback through purchasing eBooks). I just made a new one with a completely different email and address and such, and was wondering how I should build feedback. I really need to get to 5 :(. Please help. Thanks.

You mean like buying eBooks to build your rep? Oh snap. Now you're talking about buying other cheap items to build your rep. But wait. Yeah, I think we're on the same page.

I think you might misunderstand the definition of 'dumbass scammer loser eBay seller' some how. Sounds like eBay did a good thing for the buyers. Hope you don't sell/buy/trade on FS/FT here.

Since I'm a "dumbass," we couldn't be on the same page, unless your a dumbass too? Who said anything about buying more eBooks? Ever hear of buliding feedback to use the "Buy-It-Now" option? I'm guessing that all the power sellers that sell eBooks and such are dumbasses as well then? Hmm, we just must be on the same page after all, "dumbass"...

Please. Being desperate to build a quick positive feedback is a sign. ESPECIALLY on a new ID like you're starting. ESPECIALLY after you've already been suspended by eBay. ESPECIALLY after admitting to not having paid your seller fees. ESPECIALLY after admitting to multiple IDs on eBay that were suspended.

You may have positive heat of 32 but only 2 of those have been in the last year. I still wouldn't touch anything you wanted to sell or trade with a ten foot pole.

Go argue with somebody else. I have my opinion and I've stated it here. Convince others you're not a sleazebag.
