Dammit! This sucks, I really liked the guy. He was competent and easygoing, and trusted my work. I just talked with him on the phone, then called my Director an hour later and she gave me the news. I was shocked. They let him go and told him to pack up his stuff immediately. At least he got severance.

Now I have my 4th boss in 8 months. And to top it off, my job is changing and I'm pretty sure I am not going to like the new position. I feel stuck here, need 2 years on the resume to look good.

Worst part is my Director did not talk to him personally and said it was an HR decision, but I'm pretty sure her and her boss have been planning it for awhile.

Fscking corporate America sucks. Well at least I got an overseas trip out of the mess.

take him out to dinner or something when you get back, he'd probably appreciate the gesture, and when he finds a better company and you get your 2 years he might help you move over.

He was hired to do a job and they allowed an outside consulting company to run the department. He ended up not getting any responsibility, and I think he was upset and complained a bit.

And I think it was part personality issues. He is nice but tends to get walked on, even though he is very good at his job. The other peope here are very agressive, and I think they didn't think he was 'right' for the job. Translation: they can't work with people different from themselves.
