So much for Windows XP - MS Appeal REJECTED!

How does this relate to WinXP? I don't see anything in the article indicating MS has postponed XP's release.
 
This appeal rejection wasn't a surprise.

The big news would have been if the Supreme Court decided to actually hear the appeal.

Im just looking ahead. This whole thing has been about dramatics. Why the decision today? Why not in November? Dont be suprised to hear an anouncement soon, as MS is now forced to negotiate to mitigate damage.
 
Yeah, now that XP computers are shipping from the big distributors (Gateway, Dell, etc.), I doubt you will see any delay in the shelf release coming in a couple of weeks.

The loss of this appeal will in no way affect Win XP! This appeal to the Supreme Court was an attempt by MS to get the whole case thrown out....nothing more....nothing less. All that happens now is they continue what the new judge has determines......negotiation!😉
 
There will be no postponement of WinXP.... First, its already 'out' and being sold with new PC's by OEMs. They are never gonna be able to "pull that back". Second the states and DOJ have already said they are not seeking an injunction barring the release of Win XP. The borg will roll on and continue their anticompetitive behaviour.

Resistance is futile... I gave up long ago, I have been fully assimilated. 🙂

I agree with everyone else here, WinXP is not affected by this at all.

It's been available to system builders through the channel since the first of the month.

Microsoft has always released the operating systems to OEMs well in advance of the retail market. This is nothing new.

Microsoft wanted to get the OS into the channels before the Supreme Court was ready to rule. It is hard to recind something that is already out and in use. When the Appeals court ruled against them, MS accelerated their timetable in anticipation.
 
Yeah, it is too late to stop Windows XP. It's already out, it's coming pre-installed on big-name PCs and those who know where to look can buy it by itself.

BTW, I'm watching The Screen Savers right now. Leo Laporte just ate an Athlon XP on-air. 🙂
