I really didn't get very many telemarketers calling me, maybe once every couple weeks at the very most. Now, I'm getting 1-2 calls a day, every damn day, from people doing "surveys". Apparently, they don't have to abide by the no-call list because they aren't selling anything. JHC, I'm starting to cuss them out and hang up on them. Bastards.

Yeah, AT&T has been given notice to leave us the hell alone. Now, they just send us checks for fifty bucks several times a month trying to lure us back.

I usually just hang up on them... but this one company in Colorado calls several times a day, and there's no one on the line when I answer it. I try calling them back and their caller ID number is invalid. So that's kind of annoying.

MCI is driving me up a friggin wall. they call three times a day, right as i am leaving for work, after i leave for lunch, and then sometime during the night. if that isn't bad enough, when they call their system ties up my phone line until i pick up and hang up. i've been waiting on some results from a job interview too. after nine when my cell phone minutes are free i call them up just to say that i don't want their crappy service every fifteen min.

Try being sugar-sweet to them (they're really just min.wage-making phonejockeys) and asking very politely to be put on their do not call list. Most aren't used to people being polite to them and will immediately put you on that list, and many centers do calls for more than one place, so their do not call list can affect more than one place. Do it enough and the calls *should* calm down, at least it seemed to work very well for me before the donotcall.gov initiative for telemarketers. What did you sign up for, btw? They don't just pull your phone# out of thin air :p

.....

I don't understand what the problem is. It isn't telemarketing, so whats the big deal?

You do realize that at least some surveys are going to legitimate and good research purposes?

Gurck, I asked several of them how they got my number, they all said "randomly computer generated." I do tell them to put me on their no-call lists.

Eli, wouldn't you get sick of having MORE unsolicited phone calls after you signed up on the no-call list than you ever got before? I wouldn't mind a short "survey" once in a blue moon, but more than ten each week is absurd.
