So much for GameCube/GBA ever getting a Final Fantasy Game!

Read it and weep

<< Countering statements that Square would sign on again with Nintendo to develop GBA games, Yamauchi stated plainly: "There is no contract with Square, and that matter is not open to further discussion...[Square] can say whatever they want, but we have no intention of signing a contract, and there's little chance of one being signed in the future." Double ouch. It looks like the 1996 split between the two companies will end over the president's dead body >>

that majorly isn't good, i really don't want to have to buy a ps2 or ps just to play the next final fantasy, 8 got me hooked, and 9 looks great, but its frickin cheap of them to expect fans to buy a system for thier game only..

yeah, ps2 sucks too much, i dont even think ff can pull it out. oh well, guess eventually buy it for one game, then as a beer holder.

long live dc.

that's crap... stupid Nintendo... FF3 was such a big hit for SNES, and FF has such a huge fanbase... BIG mistake on the big N's part...

btw... Secret of Mana for SNES rocked too... sorry to say tho, Secret of Evermore is suck (i guess cuz that was created for the US audience instead of them RPG lovers in Japan)

<< Yamauchi was almost as harsh against Microsoft, and head Bill Gates in particular, for their entry into the console game field. "Everyone agrees that Bill Gates is a great businessman," he admitted, "but he's human after all -- there are things that he does not know. Games are one of them. If you know nothing about sumo, you can't expect to become a Yokozuna...I believe that in a year's time, we'll start seeing the consequences of this." Triple ouch. >>

Glad someone finally had the balls to say that Microsoft is a bunch of f'ing morons with the Xbox.

I'd like to see the original Japanese report to see how accurate the translation is first.

But Square is basically messing with Nintendo anyway; they delayed FFX just to mess with the Gamecube's launch.

AHHAAHHAHAH
mistake #1 nintendo made.
first nail, lets see how many more then can drive in their self made coffin before the system is even released. 😀
And I supported nintendo through and through for years.
*sigh*
Have to play FF somewhere else.

Exactly what illkid said. Nintendo can flip Square off all they want, but the fact of the matter is they need Square. Well, not "need" per se, but they could benefit a whole bunch from another alliance with Square.

Well, Nintendo will still make major cash off their Zelda and Metroid (if they ever, ever release a new version of Metroid) series'. Not a problem there.

From what I remember, Square basically told Nintendo to FOAD when they stuck with cartridges for the N64, and Square wanted to do more advanced things. So this is more or less just a continuation.

Nintendo will get plenty of 3rd party developers back with the Gamecube. It will be successful with or without Square.

Rendus: Metroid 4

And though Square and the FF series rulex0rz, Square is still not the end-all of RPGs. Some people convey that they think Nintendo will stumble without them. I say it'll be more of an itch to Nintendo than a fatal wound.

Zelda and Metroid will sell. But enough of link and justin bailey!
How many more camera angles can you add to the same game?
It would really be nice to see a FF game on gamecube.
I have never seen better graphics designing and coding then square can do.
And to date, I have not played or even seen a RPG that competes with FF series in anyway at all.
Only PC platform gets that good.

FF ain't everything, FF8 sucked ass.

FF3 for SNES was probably the best FF ever, but still. Square was the one that didn't want to work with Nintendo because of cartridges, now that Nintendo has an ill ass sytem, Square wants to jump into the bandwagon. Oh well too bad.

I wonder if anyone here realizes that the #1 selling system of the next 5 years will not be PS2, X-Box, Gamecube, or Dreamcast...at $90-$99, I'd be willing to bet the Game Boy Advance will outsell the top 2 selling consoles combined...
