My wife and I went to a local best buy store, pulled up amazon who had a certain tablet on sale, showed a sales associate the price, sales associate contacted manager, manager refused to price match.

Item was being sold by amazon and not a third party.

I sent corporate an email describing what happened.

The replies I am getting from corporate sound like they do not care and nothing is going to be done.

BB always does this if the price is too low. Still it's usually manager based, so either come back at a different time when another manager is there or try a different store.

Unless you have a BB gift card or some reason to buy there, why wouldn't you just buy from Amazon to begin with?

Sometimes it's nice to be able to handle the item first, and if you're already in the store, why not just get it there? Provided, shipping from Amazon doesn't take long (especially with Prime), but the difference between paying and walking out with it NOW vs. waiting a few days can make a break a deal, depending on the situation.

Because then you get the price of Amazon, and have the item in your hand that day.

link to the item?

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-TF700T-B1.../dp/B008F4NL04

Regular price $499

Sale price when we asked for price match was something like $379.

how much was the price difference?

$120

Why order from amazon when we could have got it that day? My wife and I were passing through the area anyway, so we were not making a special trip just for the tablet.

It depends on the manager/location. Radioshack had nook simple touches for $20 a couple of weeks ago. The first bestbuy I tried to pm at gave me the runaround. Second one gave me an easy pm on two simple touches. The girl who helped me actually ended up buying two for herself also.

They generally don't care about things they'll lose money on. They only care if you were abused or mistreated.

I have gotten to the point I just don't buy at Best Buy anymore. I prefer Fry's or will just order off sites like Amazon, Ebay, or places like Newegg. ect. Best Buy has kind of gone downhill in my opinion.

Fair enough, although personally I'd rather wait for my item than go to a Best Buy B&M store which to me rivals a trip to the DMV in terms of attractiveness. YMMV of course, and I realize some folks don't mind or even enjoy the store.

well that clearly isn't sold by amazon, and you can't even find it "out of stock" by amazon in the other buying options, so who really knows if your story is true or not. with your posting history it's hard to believe you.

I have not bought anything from best buy in probably 3 years? I think the last thing I bought was a couple of movies.

With best buy announcing they would price match I figured it was worth a try.

I bought my wife an ASUS transformer on black friday 2012. At the time of purchase I bought the extended warranty. In may the screen developed something that looked like a crack and the unit would not turn on.

Between december and now ASUS had stopped making the original tablet I bought my wife. So the insurance company refunded us the full purchase price.

My wife and I left friday to go see star trek into darkness. After the movie we stopped by best buy to look for her a replacement tablet.

They do have some stated exceptions to their policy, might any of these have applied? Just curious.

...items that are advertised as limited-quantity, out of stock, open-box, clearance, refurbished/used items...

The "limited-quantity" exception in particular is what I have seen on amazon from time to time. Of course unless you did a screen grab of the amazon page at the time there is probably no way to tell for sure.

I don't see
TF700T-C1-CG

sold by bestbuy and the first one you linked isn't available at bestbuy either.

My mistake, it was not the c1-cg,

We did not argue, we just left.

My wife ended up buying the ASUS memo from a local walmart, and we bought the extended warranty again.

I have never known BB to match a sale priced item being offered by a conmpetitor....

Now our local BB will pricematch as long as its not a item on sale by a competitor...

they do it all the time. my latest one was when injustice: gods among us was $35 ($25 off) at TRU. i just brought the add in and they sold it to me for $35 instead of $60. no questions asked. it was a very painless process.

yeah the amazon page could have said "only 1 left hurry and order" or something like that. i've seen many items on amazon say there are few quantities left.
