So much for a GFWL "upgrade"

god, I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.

I only got to the "avatar" section and felt the same way.

The last "transation" section had one thought, I need a quick way to un-friend people so I am NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that "working gaming" supporting the "unemployed gamer".

Welcome to Microsofts version of Second Life.*

*never played it personally, so might be off target (not that the gamer in me will admit to missing the target).

edit: At least I feel better about avoiding GFWL for the last year. Now I can make it a more perminate feature in my buying checklist.

Soon the tag "GFWL" on a box will mean more than "possible console port" + "Crappy DRM", it will mean PC gamers avoid.

In all seriousness though I think this might be the most disturbing thing I have seen in a while. And I've seen A LOT of depraved pornography.

Wow. Absolutely nothing about that video appealed to me. I'm glad none of my games use Gaming for Windows Live, and I plan to keep it that way. I hope Microsoft never uses their power over Windows to force all users to use Games for Windows Live in some form.

People like this stuff, and they're willing to spend insane amounts of money on it as well. Get over it, it's not the end of the world and you can just ignore if necessary. Also, realistically, 5 years from now is the earliest Microsoft can hope to have any legitimate traction with GFWL. And even that might be optimistic.

I do not want. I actually like the Wii, and I can't stand that aspect of it, and yet they manage to implement the MyWii stuff in almost all the games...

As for Microsoft, well...they've never really done what people WANT. They just do what THEY want, and beat it to death until people are forced to use it. No one WANTS GFWL, yet here it is...still.

OH MY GOD REGULAR PEOPLE WILL WANT TO PLAY PC GAMES! HOW DARE THEY!
/nerd rage

got nothing about regular people playing games.

I just do not want to play with noob players (casual good players is fine, just the noobs)

Though initally I think most of the GFWL will think the program/avatar system is "the game" and keep them from what gamers call the game.

GFWL is just another piece of crapware like internet explorer and media player they can bundle with windows and use to sell naive people even more crapware. The only worthwhile things MS ever made were the x box, windows OS, and office programs. Anyone who expects them to be your one-stop-shopping for everything computer related gets what they pay for. When MS actually comes out with something else worthwhile you'll know because the entire software community will be shocked. In the meantime you can expect them to continuing bragging about everything they make in the hopes of selling more crapware to more computer illiterates.

GFWL isn't bundled with Windows (yet) -- my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate is totally devoid of GFWL. And IE9 is actually rather decent. I'm using it more than the Chrome or Firefox betas.

Oh irony. The same day I posted this I bought Arkham Asylum off of Steam, blissfully unaware that it uses GFWL. And of course, it was a headache to get working.
