So many problems would be eliminated with simpler moderator rules

Why doesn't Anandtech just go with the "I'm a moderator, I win" policy?

There is so much arguing about what exactly constitutes the rules, what is accepted, what isn't, blah blah. I've wasted a good amount of time figuring out why I've been banned in the past and trying to contort the rules in various ways.

The answer to the question, "Why am I banned, why was my thread locked, why was the link deleted, etc" would be, "Because a moderator made a weighted decision.

Mods are wasting their volunteered time explaining things and trying to define things. Us regulars have no rights. And I don't expect there to be a ban/lock frenzy if the rules switched. Mods would act exactly like they do now, but with a hell of a lot less garbage.

My options were to lock it because it's not a personal issue. By virtue of your thread title it's a suggestion so instead of locking it, I left it for the suggestion box.

-snip-

I think it's an effort to be consistent and fair.

(As with any rule, there are always 'gray' areas and those who to try to exploit that).

Note: My answer above is in my role as a 'regular member' response. I'm not officially speaking as a Moderator.
