So....let's talk next gen video

What's coming and when? Will the next batch be DX10 and ridiculously power hungry? Is this the gen that will require 1000+W PSUs or is that the generation after that? I have an X800 XL and am wondering if I can just ride it out till the NEXT low-power generation comes around.

Please discuss.

1000 watt psus are 400 bucks and the cards that almost require them cost 800-1000... unless the prices on both come way way way way down, they wont be required for years.
Hell, a 350 watt psu still powers up to what, lower high end?

Games seem to finally be demanding decent computers to run (oblivion, fear etc..), which i am very happy about. No more half life 1's that were made to run on calculators instead of geforce 2's.

It just kinda sucks for the occasional gamer.. chances are if he wants to play the newest game he'll need more memory or a better video card now.

Most 350 watt PSUs can't handle any K8 system(+12v rail too low). I have experienced this several times already when trying to upgrade friends and family from older K7s to K8-based machines.

Just read on Slashdot or somewhere today that the next generation of PSUs will be 1000+W. So when are the next gens slated and what names are we looking at? Radeon X2k series and Geforce 8 series?
