No. And yes, I would do everything in my power to smash the hijackers head into the cockpit door over and over until blood was spraying uncontrollably everywhere.

I think if you can prove that the guy was without a doubt hijacking the plane and you life was in danger then it would be considered self-defense and mean no jail time.

You would not do any jailtime for killing a hijacker. Aside from the 'hero' title that you'd have from every newspaper/radio/tv station, legally that falls right into self defense.

Plus, even if there was some kind of law that you had broken, you would more than likely get a free pass from the president.

Sideline QBs are the bravest. But when the shed hits the fan, they'll panic and freeze like everybody else on plane.

Or certain health care personal(paramedics, ER nurses/docs) Tho they would be better suited for anyone that got hurt.

Careful. You better read up on the use of deadly force laws. It varies from place to place.
If it happens in Kalifornia you'll go to jail and end up paying reporations to the hijackers family for the rest of your natural life. You can retreat by jumping out of the plane after all so your not allowed to use force. You have to retreat. ;)

If your in Florida, you'll be patted on the back, giving a "job well done" and sent on your marry way. You are allowed to stand your ground and kill anyone that is going to commit a forcible felony.

But here's the bigger question. How are you going to kill the terrorist? You have no weapon. Beleive me, if you happend to be able to smuggle a weapon on a plane that is hijacked and are able to kill the threat and get back on land alive, someone will hang you by your cojones for possing the weapon. Your a terrorist after all for carrying a nail clipper.

I think the terrorist threat would be minimize greatly if they allowed law biding citizens conceal carry on planes. Mohammed won't know which of the 200 passagners are packing heat. Could be the Marine in seat 15C or it could be the little old lady in 34B. Heck it could be the spring break crowed in row 4. Right now Mohammed knows everyone is unarmed and can't do squat but DIE.

If you wanna be true airplane security, demand that we sub contact out to El Al to handel security. They don't have terrorist problems. Reason why? They Profile. They know the 80 year old Jewish lady isn't going to blow up the plane and therefor leave her alone. They suspect 20-35 year old Mohammed though and will probe him accordingly.

My weapon would be a glass, made of glass of course. I dont know if they still use glassware, but when I flew in '05 to Michigan they did. Would make an ok weapon.

You know those plastic cups are pretty damn sharp even if you break them up... No matter. I'll just whack him with my aging Dell 600m which I hate anyways. MMmmm take that heat sink off the Dothan and slam it into his face.. it'll burn a nice Intel logo into his cheek.

I always thought it would be smart to compartmentalize the plane and give each person (or group) their own cryogenic chamber surrounded by 3' thick reinforced concrete and steel.

The airlines could offset the costs of such a scheme by eliminating the 'Do not throw napkins down the toilet' signs since frozen people don't pee.

Two years ago I brought a tennis racquet on the plane with no problems - that would make an excellent weapon.

Last year I brought a tripod with spiked feet on the plane with no problems - that would make an even better weapon.
