yeah....I kinda wish this was just a test of your minds, but there really is a tornado warning, and I really do live in an 8 story apartment building.

Some cities have designated areas for underground shelter where there are buildings without basements. Trailer parks especially.

If you're totally screwed and the tornado's knockin' on your door, then get as low and far away from any windows as you possibly can, blankets and other shields are a good idea too. Say you had this big expensive pool table in the room, that'd be a good place to hide under.

should I bring the cats out there too?

I think if the tornado siren starts going off I will just go chill in the lobby. THere are really big windows down there to watch all the action from. :)

take a camera :)

I've always wanted to see a tornado first hand. Seems like everytime I move, a tornado occurs where I used to live. :(

Hmm... How would a tornado affect an 8 story building...

How about finding an old fashioned bathtub and hiding in that on the first story.

I'd go outside. =D

Personally, I wouldn't recommend going into a room with lots of windows, unless you really like glass shrapnel.

Yeah. Windows + high winds = bad day.

Yeah, and extreme air pressure differentials.

Stop worrying about this nonsense

http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/sd/annsum99.pdf

In 1998-99, extreme heat ranked as the #1 weather killer in the United States, outranking floods. The 30-year average (1970-1999) for floods is 130; for lightning, 76; for tornadoes, 70; for hurricanes, 16. The 10-year average for cold related deaths is 26; for heat, 194.

When there is lightning within 10 miles do you hide underground?
