So, just how much game can the 9600 handle?

In my new system, I'm using a scrounged Radeon 9600 as my video card to save cash. I'm not a hardcore gamer who has to have the latest video card to play Doom 3 or to compete in UT2k4, so I'm sure I'll be satisfied with it. However, I am curious: what's the limits of the card? How graphics-intensive can it go? What games can it handle, and at what settings? And, of course, what games will kill it outright?

For reference: The card is a plain ol' Radeon 9600 from ATI, with 128 MB of DDR. The system will have an Socket 939 Athlon XP 3200 and 1 GB of DDR400.

WTF? I think anyone could figure that out, why post it?

He HAS a 9600 he is going to use and wants to know what kind of performance it will have.

There is no such thing. 😉

Did you mean a Socket 939 Athlon 64 3200+, or an actual Athlon XP 3200+ (which would be Socket A/462)?

Edit: Since you did say "new" system, I'm assuming it's an A64. 😛

A friend of mine has a 9600 Pro and managed to play Doom 3, so I imagine that you should be able to play even most newer games with a regular 9600 - at low resolutions and quality settings obviously.
