I kept it for SOCOM, but seeing that apparently sucks (due to buggy online, which IF it gets fixed I am confident it will be great), I need some games.

Right now, I plan on possibly getting Littlebigplanet for Christmas and if that's good I'll keep the PS3, else I may get rid of it. Resistance 2 looks interesting, but I'll only pick it up if it has co-op on the same console (yes I am aware it has 8 player online co-op but I'm talking about local).

Biggest reason I don't play it is because I am a big 360 fan and love achievements. PS3 disappoints me because of the lack of something similar; I know Trophies are now 'out' but only a few games have them, which is very lame IMO. It also looks like in the future still not many games are going to have Trophies since they are not required.

Yea, let's not buy any games since they don't have trophies. Who needs great games when there are trophies.

You Sir, fail at having fun.

Retail on disc -
MGS4
Hot Shots Golf OOB
BioShock - Trophies
LittleBigPlanet - Trophies
GTA IV - Trophies

From PSN -
Bionic Commando Rearmed - Trophies TBA
WipEout HD - Trophies
PixelJunk Eden - Trophies
PixelJunk Monsters + Encore - Trophies
Burnout Paradise - Trophies
PAIN (came free w/ system) - Trophies
Linger In Shadow (Bought it solely for the trophies)

As you can see, only 2 games don't have trophies, you have no excuse not to buy PS3 games. I also bought a few BR movies. Really happy w/ my choices and I know I'm having fun w/ them not just 'cause they have trophies.

Ps. Just 'cause those fucking assholes at Bethesda aren't putting trophies in the already sub-par and buggy port of Fallout 3 doesn't mean every other developer for PS3 games isn't doing it.

Resistance 2 has split screen co-op

Lots of great games on the system, shame you can't seem to find any.

and have zero games

Sounds like you have the whole PS3 library...

I kid, I kid. There are some good games out there, regardless of trophies or not. I didn't know anyone cared for the achievement system so much that they don't buy game which fail to utilize such a system.

Personally, I almost always ignore achievements anyway.

Dark Sector is a dumb fun shooter for $20 at Amazon.

The Ratchet & Clank demo looks really good and seems just as fun as the PS2 versions (of which I've only played R&C Going Commando so far).

If you're not going to play games unless they have 'cheevermints then you don't deserve the fun you're missing :)

Check out Unchartered. That game has Trophy support now and is pretty damn sweet.

OMG, no trophies!! Can't buy games if they don't have trophies!

WTF is wrong with people? We did without pointless achievements in games for 20 years. Why do you need them now?

Some people genuinely find achievements to be a fun thing. Why do you feel the need to mock people with different views than you, especially when said views are purely opinion? We did without any number of things for 20 years. That doesn't mean it's acceptable to go without them now.

I actually agree that trophies or lack thereof aren't the end of the world, but there's no need to be an ass about it.

Devil's advocate: you could say the same thing about online leaderboards, too. Hell, why should the game display a score at all? It's about how much _fun_ you're having, right?

Trophies and achievements add a desire layer of competitiveness to gaming for some people, because those people like to compete in a certain way.

Resistance 2 doesn't have story mode co-op online, it only does that locally, so sounds like you are in luck.

Dark Sector is available for $12.99 with free shipping & no tax at Newegg. I'd just got it last week. I'm quite surprise the game is pretty good, despite the average review.
Another game I enjoyed is The Darkness.

eh, I've personally given up on playing games in the PC. I need to learn to play FPS's now on the console, I'm so far behind because I'm stubborn, haha.

And to the OP, why the hell didn't you just buy a 360 then?

360 and PS3 are fairly similar in their libraries, 80% of games are cross-platform. If you already own one, you have to ask yourself if the exclusives on the other one are worth the extra money and clutter. People with a PS3 ask themselves the same question about the 360. I'd love to play GoW and Halo, but I know they'll just come out for the PC later. Count me in as one of the people who wanted free netplay, quieter scratch-proof blu-ray for games and movies, and the capacity to upgrade my HD to a 320gb off newegg for $90.

And the PS3 ports are almost always seriously inferior to the X360 versions, hampered by bad frame rates, poorer visual quality, slower load times, etc. Forget the lack of achievements - it's the lack of quality that makes going with the X360 version the only reasonable choice.

Someone can repeat the Sony fanboy marketing handbook talking points, can't he? Whenever I see the "scratch-proof" coating bullet point in a post, I wonder what the pay rate is for being a shill until I remember that fanboys are more than willing to advertise for free. Unless you're planning on humping your discs with a steel-wool condom or are simply the most careless person in the world, this is a non-issue. Same for free online; they certainly couldn't charge for their setup.

As for the topic, focusing on PS3-exclusives, Uncharted is really good and looks great (though they added Trophies when I was already into it and they didn't retroactively count; lame) and I liked Heavenly Sword, though it is short enough to make it either a rental or sub-$25 purchase. Ratchett & Clank looks great, but I've barely started playing, so I don't have a good read on it.
