So I've got to clean out a family friend's PC ...

Point form:

- Family friend calls. Browser hijacked to pr0n site.
- Said friend has teenage male children.
- I/We suspect pr0n surfing led to infestation.

Therefore, I'd like to not only purge but prove it for optimal 0wnage of the little brat. 😛 I figure a USB key, write-protected and armed with Spybot/Adaware/HijackThis should handle the former task; now what can you suggest for the latter? Let's assume he's bright enough to clear history/cache/cookies.

Get the IE development toolkit from the MS website, make your own IE build and remove the "delete history" function. Install. Set up webcam and wait till the little p0rn fiend can't find the clear history button. Enjoy.

Maybe if they use Dead AIM/AIM+/middleman/etc. you can find when the spyware was installed and look through the AIM logs to see who was signed on and active???
