So I've got this box...

It's a cheap half wood/half composite box. This is what it use to look like. This is what it looks like after years of pokes, scrapes, bumps, & one cheap sanding. The top is composite & makes the rest of the box look silly or vise versa.

This box is going to be part of a gift to my father. A nice little box filled with incense from around the world. Should I paint it one full color, staining it would be weird, with the top not actually wood.

Suggestions?
Thank you.

you should have left the box as is. it would have been a collector's item.

hrm, came into this thread thinking you had a big box, one you could climb in. ah, I miss the days of climbing in big boxes and making forts and what not

You could get some thin metal flashing (maybe copper) from home depot and wrap the composite lid with it and tack it down (or just glue it down on the top of the lid) and then paint or stain the wood.

One of my brother's co-workers built a fort out of cardboard boxes in the back of the furniture store he works in... He outfitted it with a PS2 and a TV.

They still make them to ship the 375s in. Not collectable in the least. It would be weeks before I could get another one. Old= 7 years. It's just a box I have laying around that's the right size. If I could buy a nice box like that, I would.

wooden boxes from yesteryear with product labels/ads on them whether applied or in ink are very collectible. i think yours would have followed those lines.

just an fyi for the future.

I'll stock up on them after the holidays & you can buy them from me. 🙂 So I can put you down for forty or so right? 🙂

My mom says that if you want to become a lesbian, you have to chew on that box.

But sure, paint it. The important question is WHERE IS THE GOOSE???
