So I've been thinking about doing a ride-along with the local PD...

I look up some info about it, and find out that (in Seattle, at least), each citizen can do one ride-along per year, per precinct. You sign up, they do a warrant/criminal history check, you sign a waiver, and they call you to schedule a time. Kind of neat that they're willing to do this...of course, they're not supposed to get in high-speed chases or anything with a rider along.

The weird thing is, though, it's FREE, right? Which makes you wonder about Google hits like this, or item 43 on this:laugh:

They should always be free, though I've seen fundraisers offer things like that. They can be fun, especially when anything interesting goes on. Go just after the first of the month, on a friday or saturday night if possible. 8pm-3am are prime. You're more likely to get action then.

Oh, and what they're supposed to do with you along, and what you actually do, are two entirely different things. 😎
