So, its Tuesday night and I'm drunk

Im 26 years old and never knew an alcoholic. I got plenty of friends who drink. I grew up in a single mother home. but, like I said before, I never knew an alcoholic.

So tell me. Am I an alcoholic?

None of the information you have provided is enough to answer your question. Being shitfaced, even alone, does not make you an alcoholic on its own standing.

It is not advisable topost when "shitfaced". You can generate posts that you may not be proud of and/or get you into trouble.

How often a week do you drink?

How many drinks do you have in one setting?

Has drinking caused problems in your life?

Do you often find yourself thinking you need a drink?

In addition to the other questions:

Do you have anything to do tomorrow? Is tomorrow an off day for you?

put down the mikes hard lemonade, stand up from the computer, and politely leave the public library.

You're an amateur. 😛

Sometimes I'll get shitfaced on accident by myself..I didn't think that two glasses of wine would do me in 🙁

1) 1 to 3 times a week (rum)

2) 9-10 shots of rum using beer as a chaser

3) My girlfriend doesnt like when I drink. But losing a job or my girl because I drink too much? No.

4) All the time. Usually when Im bored. Im from Brooklyn NY. But due to business, im stuck in a island which you can make drive from west to east in about 3-4 hours. I dont know anybody except family. So when I wake up I take care of business. Then I drink.

Definitly alcoholic

Sounds like you are a low level alcoholic with a bright future ahead of you of more severe alcoholism. Nothing like waiting until it's really bad, though, and your girl and job are both gone

You're well on your way, if not there already. The medical definition of alcoholism is below if youre curious:

DSM-IV Alcohol Abuse (1 or more criteria for over 1 year)
  1. Role Impairment (e.g. failed work or home obligations)
Hazardous use (e.g. Driving while intoxicated)
Legal problems related to Alcohol use
Social or interpersonal problems due to Alcohol

DSM-IV Alcohol Dependence (3 criteria for over 1 year)
  1. Tolerance (increased drinking to achieve same effect)
    Alcohol Withdrawal signs or symptoms
    Drinking more than intended
Unsuccessful attempts to cut down on use
Excessive time related to Alcohol (obtaining, hangover)
Impaired social or work activities due to Alcohol
Use despite physical or psychological consequences

Try removing alcohol from your life for a week. Just don't buy it. Its hard to resist drinking when its in the house.

See if your life is better. There might be things you can do while sober than you miss. Plus, your girlfriend well be happier.

Bullshit. There is a huge difference with alcohol abuse and alcoholism.

When you're in college, perhaps. When you're 26 and regularly drinking 9-10 shots of rum with beer chasers alone, not so much -- in fact, NONE.

I don't get how the situation in which you are drinking makes you physically dependent..

Physical addiction is not the only form of alcoholism. Chronic binge drinking is another.

I recently read a study showing that light smokers could be considered addicted, and have just as hard a time quitting as pack a day smokers. Light meaning once a day, or a couple of times per week.

Meh, I'm an alcoholic then. My tolerance is stupid high, but I don't drink alone.

I'd say a good test would be to go to the pub with friends, and only drink water. If you can do that, you're not an alcoholic.
