Bloomberg is expected to seek and win a change in city legislation that would extend the term limit ceiling to three terms from from two, a source who was briefed on his plans told the Daily News.

Twenty-six of 51 City Council members have agreed to support the bill, ensuring its passage, one Council member said.

Start small before you get bigger. It's ok, the guy is popular, who cares if we have two term limites, let's increase it!

The apathy of the nation.

The "apathy" of accuracy?

WTF does this have to do with the *nation*? For Christ's sake, he's a freakin Mayor of a city, not the President of the G@d D@mn USA.

I no longer live in Manhatten, and frankly don't think they've got much in common with the rest of this country. They can do what they want as far as I am concerned.

Mayors elsewhere (including Europe etc) often serve with no term limits.

Don't you people in Canada have schools?

Bloomberg's actually a pretty good mayor. Far more fiscally conservative than a lot of "republicans".

He's pragmatic and a good administrator, NYC deserves no less. I'd support a 3rd term.

Now if only he wasn't such a complete moron on 2nd Amendment issues.

Just to make it clear for those thatdo not know.

The voters of New York voted on the two term limit law.

Bloomberg is using the City Council to do an end around going against the will of the voters.

That should not even be possible, should be illegal and criminal.

It should also be considered Un-American and worthy of Treason.

He should be at a minimum imprisoned.

Bloomberg is the mayor of NYC? Kidding, but seriously, I've lived here my entire life and he's the worst mayor since Dinkins. It's like having Alf's dad as the face of your city.

?When a man uses profanity to support an argument, it indicates that either the man or the argument is weak - probably both?

Maybe before you go all our flipping emotionally you should try to understand the reason behind term limits, what they are imposed for, and why they are in place. Not to mention the laws and rules surrounding this in NY (The financial capital of the US, just another backward town with a country mayor of course.) Though, I suppose if you support one of the pillars of a democracy throughout the world being arbitrarily suspended than this argument is pointless.

Sorry........can't support a 3rd term.

He may be a good mayor or not.......but that has nothing to do with the fact that there are specific reasons term limits were put into place.

If he wants a 3rd term...........amendment time.

All of this "stuff" I see lately keeps bringing me back to a Bible verse......

"Lean not on your own understanding........."

Yet more and more........we become increasingly more sure of what "we" think is right. There's no ballast. No counterweight. Nothing to judge critically against.

I liken this country's current way of thinking to Lady Justice's blindfold slowly falling off.

It doesn't work people................

Bloomberg is a whack on global warming and illegal immigration but NY could do sooooo much worse (remember David Dinkins). Bloomy is also a helicopter pilot which I always thought was cool

He didn't push back the election, it took place as scheduled. He floated an idea of extending his term 90 days, but that was also shot down.

Yeah, actually I like term limits.

Don't mind me, I'm usually grumpy as heck in the morning.

Gah Fern, I thought that was a little different...

I propose that AT imposes a "have you had your coffee this morning, yes/no" box before 11am to be able to post :p
