So is x1950 Crossfire really THIS much better?

It shows gains vs x1900 crossfire of:

19fps gain @ 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF in FEAR
15fps gain @ 1600x1200 4xAA AF in Call of Duty
12fps gain @ 1600x1200 4xAA HQ in Quake 4

It's like a few fps away from SLI!

O_O

I was under the impression that it was just a slight mem boost?

Crossfire would indeed benefit the most, because as you raise your res AA/AF, your bandwidth starts to matter.

GDDR4 provides a whopping 64gb/s. That is huge!

Well, a single X1950XTX is generally faster than a single 7900GTX with HQ and optimizations turned off, why wouldn't two also be faster then two GTXes?

As far as replacing your current cards... I wouldn't...

My thought on this is that as hardware gets older, it becomes harder to sell it @ a decent prize. I constantly sell my cards to buy new ones. I do it with only a small loss -- no more than 50-80 @ most.

So, why are you asking then...? I think you already know what you want. 🙂

That's a great idea. You're selling for X1950s? Because after R600 comes out, the worth of those 1900s will plummet...

I dunno, the more time seems to pass, the father away the R600 (and G80 for that matter) seem to be.
