So is the x58m just really slow?

I have an MSI x58m and have had a 512GB 840 pro for a while now. When I ran some bench marks on it, my RW speeds were pretty slow. They were well under 200MB/s and SATA II should be able to hit that.

Now I'm transferring a bunch of data from a 1TB 7200 RPM WD Black to a 960GB SanDisk Ultra II and I'm topping out at around 46MB/s. WD's spec sheet (http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/SpecSheet/ENG/2879-771434.pdf) shows 150MB/s.

I do have AHCI enabled, but it's made 0 difference. I'm wondering if maybe it's just my mobo that can't keep up.

Yeah, you should probably sell me that crappy old X58 board and get something newer 🙂 Have you tried overclocking it?
