So, is Skype Out free now?

Hey guys,

A year ago I bought 15 dollars in Skype Credits, to use for outbound calls. I stopped using skype for a few months, and started using it again a month ago, and noticed that none of my credits were being knocked off.

Is SkypeOut free now?

As well, if I have a remaining credit can I use it against getting a skypeIn line?

Skype said outgoing american/canadian calls were free until yesterday.

Edit, but it still appears to be working.

Weird, cause I can still call for free.

I'm wondering if they'll change it on Tuesday or Wed, seeing how it's a holiday.

I played with Skype. 20% of the time it was good. Skype to skype was fine. Since they give you 5 minutes of free Skype to landlines, I think they (Skype) are morons. How can you evaluate anything in 5 minutes? I was totally turned off. I had plans of buying lots of service.

It allowed 2 calls, one to an answering machine and the other to a friend who begged me to get off the line. I was told that they could understand the message I left. The friend I talked to couldn't stand the connection. How can you evaluate something in 5 minutes? This may have backfired on them.

I personally like it a lot when I use it.

At Virginia Tech we have corded phones (I hate them) that you aren't allowed to replace or unplug. It is annoying to have to drag the cord around with you, pay Long-Distance for everything (etc...)

I bought Skype with a Linksys CIT 200 Cordless phone and it is great. Everything is still crystal clear, it's cheap, and I can actually leave my room while on the phone.

For the record, I don't get cell phone service at all in the dorms (Otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought Skype).

The only gripe I have is that the Skype Client program takes up a little more memory than I would like and seems kind of bloated.
