So is "Rome" way better than "Spartacus"?

My buddy gave me his Rome series on DVD to borrow. But I hear a lot about this Spartacus show. Is Rome way better if I have to choose 1 for now or does Spartacus's all out gore/nudity trump it? What about storyline and acting?

Yes, Rome>>>> Spartacus. You have the DVD, watch one or two episodes and decide for your self.

I started watching Spartacus thinking it would be like HBO's Rome.

Watch Spartacus first if you are going to watch both, Rome makes watching Spartacus almost unbearable if you enter it with the same mindset.

Rome is way better made that is for sure. Just depends on what you want. Spartacus is more a blood and boobs entertainment show while Rome takes things more serious. Both are good in there own way. You really just have to get through the first couple episodes of Spartacus to get into it.

Spartacus is what Rome would have looked like if it had 1/10th the budget and production values. Decent enough mindless entertainment for genre fans, but it's a far cry from what Rome was, particularly the first season of Rome.

Yes. I think Spartacus is great, but Rome is definitely superior. Better plot, casting, characters, sets, etc...

It was a real end--but obviously hashed together in the final half of the final show.

At least they knew they were being canceled and so they managed to finish things up, but still a very quick ending.

to Kadarin: Spartacus trumps Rome in the nudity and gratuitous sex department 10:1. Also be aware that this means profound instances of dick. --surprise dick, too.
