Hmmm? HD6870s stock are beating 460 FTW on benchmarks.1GB ones aren't that cheap.
And how will AMD dominate the $180 price point if the faster 1GB GTX460's are less than $180?

Why would they? The cards offer better performance at MSRP.So is AMD going to lower the price on the 6850/6870? Otherwise NVIDIA is going to make (actually probably already is making) a killing on the GTX 460s.
GTS550 will be based on GF116 (240nm) and probably a 192-bit memory
NV could introduce two GF114 cards (GTX560 and GTX565) at $199 and $240
Even 6850 with mild OC is beating/matching 460 ftw in some benchmarks.
Also the 470 has been showing up on sale lately for $200 and it crushes both the 6870 & 6850.

So again the 6870/6850 need to drop in price. A lot. 6850 should be around $100 or less. 6870 maybe $140 or less.
How do you reason the 550 will be 240mm^2?
And the 6850 crushes the 460
http://www.techspot.com/review/348-amd-radeon-6970/page5.html
So the 460 should be under $80.
GF114 (GTX560) will compete with HD6800 series
GTX 460/560 = 331/367mm^2
HD 6850/70 = 255mm^2
Nvidia doesn't want a price war in that range. AMD can sell 6850s at $100 if they have to (same die size as 4850 and they did there) and there's no way Nvidia can make money if they introduce a GTS 550 then drop it down to that level.
Both companies are probably happy with the status quo margins wise, AMD more so obviously.
GF106 (GTS450) is ~240nm, i expect GF116 to be the same size.
GTS550 will not compete against HD6800 but will be between HD5700 and HD6800
GF114 (GTX560) will compete with HD6800 series
The 6870, then, if you're capable of piecing together information for yourself. That review does not even show the 6850

To see the 6850 crush the 460, just go here:

460 = $80. Come on Nvidia don't be ripping us off now.
Don't you think they would try and make it a bit smaller.
