I think it would be fairly easy for Microsoft to realease a USB add on for the 360 where there is a motion sensing bar and a motion sensing controller. I think with the PS3's motion sensing Sixaxis and of course Nintendo Wii, I think were just about 6 months to a year away from MS's version of motion sensing for the xbox 360. What do u guys think?

I guess you never know, but I wouldn't count on it. They have a fairly popular controller, they spent their R&D money on it, it's being produced, done deal for this generation.

As for the PS3..... someone fill me in on the sixaxis. I read something about having to plug it in to "sync" with the console, then you can remove the cable and it is wireless. Is this correct? If so, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony release a sixaxis version 2 that can "sync" by just pressing a button on the controller. Then, the original sixaxis controllers will be outcasts, much like the original 'duke' controllers for xbox.

I just wished that the PS3 had rumble support. That sucks that they didn't include it.....and its BS for them saying that they couldn't fit it in there.

Man I LOVED the original controllers. But I can see how some people with small hands would not.

why would they want to? MS already had the sidewinder gamepad back in 1998 that did the VERY thing that the PS3s controller does now... and it BOMBED huge..

doesnt anyone else remeber motorcross madness and the sidewinder gamepad?

It will flop, along with the PS3's. I had the Freestyle pad back in the day with Motorcross Madness, it was very cool for about 5 minutes and then it was annoying. If you got excited and jerked, you crashed. The analog sticks are much much much much better.

Honestly, I played with the PS3 SixAxis, and let me tell you that it was the most awkward, worthless piece of garbage. I was playing NBA 07 with it, and it said push left to crossover left and move it clockwise to do the spin move, well I did that and it honestly felt like I had no control over it. It reminds me of a glitchy game that when you push one button it will do three other actions right after another.

I hate the SixAxis.

I predict they will copy old technology on the PS4.

The new Sph3r3 Controller!
Features new laser guided technology that tracks the movement of the Sph3r3! Revolutionary thumb guided movement!

Be the first to see pictures of the Playstation 4 controller here:

Rumble support is stupid...it's more annoying than anything.

I was actually reading a review of Fall of Man for the PS3 where they used that exact same scenario as why they missed the rumble. They said it was too hard for them to know when they've been hit in the game without the controller vibrating. I haven't played the game yet, but maybe they don't have any kind of other notification that you've been hit, or maybe it's too suddle.

But that's more a design flaw than a need for rumble. I like the rumble. I think I would miss it.

If Microsoft developed a motion sensing controller I would guess it'd be around $100 bucks a piece because their controllers already rape you when buying 4 of them... $50-60 dollars a piece?

It's great if used right, look at wii sports. All of those games make great use of rumble.

I seem to remember some Zelda game using the rumble feature to perfection. Could be wrong. Ocarina of Time?

GoW/RS:V for XBox - screen turns red when you get shot. Same with every other FPS/3rd person shooter. I don't know how you "don't know you got shot"...should be visibly noticeable, and if it's not, well the designers suck.

No. The motion sensing feature on the PS3 is a gimmick meant to counter Nintendo. It's not a controller designed from the ground up to be used as a motion sensing controller, and I think because of this it will only be used minimally. I don't think Microsoft is stupid enough to do the same thing.

No it was Immersion who sued Microsoft and Sony. i'm not sure if Nintendo was ever included but Microsoft payed up and entered an agreement, sony on the other hand said no think they can muscle a win out of the courts and lost. they then claim that rumble would not work with their whole motion thing, but Immersion said they can easily do it.

Not a chance. Sony is a controller-copycat. They did it with dual shock, and they did it again with sixaxis. They just ride Nintendo's coattails rather than doing their own controller R&B. Microsoft hasn't shown that yet.

Oh please. The Dualshock was a much better implementation of analog control and rumble than Nintendo did. The Gamecube controller was a big ripoff of the Dualshock 2 except with some stupid little twists that made it a worse controller (except for the triggers).

Yes, rumble really isn't that big of a deal, but then again, motion sensing in my opinion isn't either and is almost as gimmicky (although it does have more potential). In fact, didn't Sony have motion sensing controls before Nintendo did in consoles? Remember the EyeToy which came out what 2 years ago?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking other people's ideas and making them better. You can try to convince yourself that Nintendo is the only one innovating, but don't be so naive.

As for Microsoft, I believe they've been working on controllers aimed at particular genres of games (I was thinking they said they were going to show off an FPS controller before the end of the year) and probably other things. I have no doubt that they are considering motion sensing control schemes.

Dualshock was better than the N64 controller. It was a good implementation of analog sticks at a time when the D-pad was still dominant. But they really need to update it to put the left analog stick in a dominant position. Saying the Gamecube controller is a ripoff of the Dualshock is like saying the Dualshock is a ripoff of the SNES controller. The main diferences between GC and DS are shape (personal preference), position of analog sticks (Nintendo's makes more sense), L&R buttons (analog triggers is nice, but having two sets of buttons is also nice), pressable analog sticks (nice feature if used right), and the layout of the 4 main buttons. I think Nintendo's button layout makes more sense, because they recognize that you do use one or two buttons more than the others in most games. The position of the left analog stick just bugs the hell out of me. Xbox S FTW!

And if you're going to bring up the EyeToy, what about the POS PowerGlove? ;)
